Balearic Islands - a region of Spain comprising an archipelago in the western Mediterranean with an area of 5014 km². Balearic Islands have about 1.07 million inhabitants. It is located near the eastern Spanish coast. The archipelago consists of several islands, of which the three largest are Majorca, Menorca and Ibiza.
The Balearic Islands are an autonomous region and a province of Spain with the capital in Palma de Mallorca, this city is still the seat of church authorities, the judiciary and the armed forces.
